THE STORY OF THE
COWETA CYCLONES BASEBALL CLUB
In the fall of 2017, parents from the Sharpsburg Youth Baseball League decided that it might be best for their kids to try and play baseball at a slightly higher level than what could be offered through the recreation department when it came to competition. After many months of planning, twelve families from Coweta and Fayette counties came together to form a travel/tournament baseball team for their eight and nine year old sons.
The Coweta Cyclones Baseball Club is dedicated to developing more than just good baseball players. Our goal is to teach sound fundamentals, encourage teamwork, and most importantly, to instill a high work ethic, respect and passion not only for the game of baseball but in their personal life as well. We believe that kids gain confidence and a love for the game through positive feedback from parents, coaches, and other players. Skill level develops at different rates for kids, but effort and having fun can always be achieved. Teamwork and developing friendships is an important part of any team sport. We always try to tell the kids how important it is for them to support each other and to always be positive towards their teammates.
The first year has been more successful than we ever imagined. We have a great group of families and kids and are playing at a competitive level. We finished with two 2nd place finishes and 1 Championship in the last three spring tournaments. By the end of the fall season we had either won or played for the championship in 5 of our last 8 tournaments. At the end of the spring season in 2018, we were ranked 3rd in the State of Georgia in 8U AA, and beat the 2nd rank team in our last tournament. Not so bad for an independent team in its first season! Since then our now 10U team has had a combined record of 40-26-1 with 9 tournament championship appearances and winning 5 championships.
In the Winter of 2018 the Coweta Cyclone Baseball Club expanded to add an 8U team to the organization and are proud to have those 12 families join in and become members of the Cyclone family! And now in the Fall of 2019 we have added an 8U team and their 10 families to our growing family! We are so excited for the things to come for our group.
TEAM H.T.C.D
Hardwork - Play hard! While we are at practice and games we must have a work ethic to get better and listen to the coaches everyday. It takes hardwork to become a better baseball player and we must put in the hardwork at practice and games.
Trust - Trust our teammates and coaches! We want our boys and parents to become a family and build friendships through baseball that will last forever. All of that starts with trusting each other that we all are in it for the right reasons and are putting in the hardwork and concentration it takes to be successful. Baseball is the greatest sport to build friends that turn into baseball family, however it cannot start without trust.
Concentration - Try your very best! We want our boys to concentrate while at practice and games so that they can get better as a person and as a ballplayer. Baseball is a time commitment and we must concentrate to get the most out of our time at practice. During the game concentration allows us to be aware of the situations so that our team can be successful.
Delight - Have fun! It is a game. We do not want any of the players to feel as if we as coaches or parents have placed so much pressure on them that they forget to have fun and play the GAME of baseball. As soon as baseball is not fun, the player will lose the passion for this great game. We want their passion for baseball to grow and for that to happen they need to HAVE FUN and Delight in this game of baseball!
We are all looking forward to a SUCCESSFUL spring season!
